How to manage change

I was talking to a health service professional the other day and she was reflecting on her career of some 30 years - always in the front line, client facing, at the sharp end. She said, "We've always been in a state of change - and I know we have to change and develop. But all the change seems to have been reactive - new things introduced to fix a problem or shortfall somewhere else. There never seems to be an overall vision of where we're going." If you've read any of my blogs previously, you will know that the idea of making sure everyone in an organisation knows and shares the vision is something that I think is fundamental to making things work properly. However, what was interesting about this discussion was what she asked next.
